Stenn increases European footprint with Barcelona tech hub

Stenn, the leading digital fintech enabling growth for businesses engaged in international trade, e-commerce and digital services, has today announced its investment in a new technology and innovation hub in Barcelona - starting with the hiring of 25 new employees.

Today’s announcement comes following a record 2023 for Stenn, fuelled by continued expansion efforts, a new Sales & Marketing hub in the USA, and 136 new hires globally.

The hub, Stenn’s second in Europe, will follow the same blueprint for success as its London presence - bringing together product management, engineering, security, data and design teams - to enable accelerated product innovation and growth, while complementing its existing strength in the UK.

Working with Catalonia Trade and Investment, Stenn plans to rapidly grow the Barcelona hub, with expansion plans and new investment set to be announced later in the year.

Commenting on Stenn’s investment in the region, Albert Castellanos i Maduell, Secretary General of Business and Competitiveness, and CEO of ACCIÓ Catalonia Trade & Investment, said: “It’s great news for Catalonia that one of the UK's fastest growing fintech companies, Stenn, has decided to establish its latest hub in Barcelona. Projects such as this show that Catalonia is one of Europe’s most attractive regions for firms who want to accelerate their growth through access to top talent, world-class business ecosystems, and global connectivity.”

Bilal Bajwa, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Stenn, shared: “Barcelona's continued investment in ambitious, cutting-edge tech companies makes it the ideal location to establish our first technology and innovation hub. Thanks to the city's world-class talent, outstanding infrastructure, and forward-thinking mindset, we're now well placed to continue our scaling journey in 2024 and beyond.

The launch of Stenn’s first hub outside of the UK is a significant moment in the company’s evolution, as we continue to grow our business and expand our global offer for customers. We are incredibly excited about bringing our product, tech, and data talent together, to drive innovation in the years ahead.”

Following the launch of the new Barcelona hub, Stenn plans to invest in additional locations in 2024, supporting strategic growth and innovation across the company’s global footprint.

Ronaldo Florence, Stenn's Vice President of Engineering, concludes: "Stenn is rapidly establishing itself as a leader in the fintech sector. Our new hub shows the company’s deep commitment to pioneering technology development, particularly in Barcelona. This initiative enables us to merge the best of international trade financing with innovative AI-driven risk assessment, all while ensuring a user experience of the highest calibre."
