Victoria Baths welcomes well-known industry figure to boost events

A historic visitor attraction has made a senior hire to boost its market offer.

Victoria Baths has welcomed hospitality consultant Liz Taylor as a special advisor.

Bosses say she will bring "new energy and ideas" to bolster the Manchester-based, grade II-listed venue's events programme.

Having closed for swimming in 1993, the baths now provide the backdrop for exhibitions, festivals and weddings, which attract more than 30,000 people every year.

Suzanne Donovan, Victoria Baths Trust vice chair, said: "We're so excited to have Liz on board.

"Liz is already bringing new energy and ideas on how we further grow our events business to help fund the careful development of our iconic buildings for the use of current and future generations."

Hailing the venue's potential, Liz said she will use experience gained from her time as chief executive of Taylor Lynn Corporation and managing director of Liz Taylor Consultancy, which has provided luxury hospitality support to venues including Victors Restaurants and Tom Kerridge's Bull & Bear.

She added: "Victoria Baths served its community and, because of that, has a genuine character and atmosphere you can't find anywhere else.

"It is a truly unique space that represents an incredible creative opportunity.

"With my knowledge of the event industry, business connections and understanding of what event organisers need, I hope to support the team in bringing Victoria Baths to a wider audience."
