Mother Mercy unveils new cocktail bar in Fenwick Newcastle

Mother Mercy, one of the UK’s Top 50 Cocktail Bars, has opened a new cocktail bar inside Fenwick Newcastle. Known for its inventive cocktails made with rare spirits and handcrafted infusions, the new bar is located on Level 1 of Fenwick's Womenswear section, following the success of its pop-up on the lower ground floor.

Neil Donachie, co-founder of Mother Mercy, expressed his excitement about the new venue, saying: “This opening presents an incredible opportunity for us to showcase our expertise alongside many iconic fashion brands.

“Our presence in Fenwick allows us to continue showcasing the incredible talent of our team in an iconic setting. Being situated adjacent to Mulberry and opposite COS on Level 1 of Womenswear aligns perfectly with our brand.

“We look forward to welcoming familiar faces and new guests to enjoy our exceptional, table-service cocktails, as well as our ‘Cocktails and Cake’ experience.”

Fenwick’s restaurant operations manager, Amy Byers, added: “We’re excited to continue our collaboration with Mother Mercy as we integrate their cocktail bar into our first-floor fashion mix.

“Mother Mercy has quickly become a favourite among our customers, offering the ideal spot to unwind with expertly crafted drinks before or after shopping. The addition enhances the Fenwick experience, perfectly complementing our fashion offering and ensuring each visit is even more enjoyable and memorable.”

The bar boasts a sleek design in soft pink hues, complete with plush velvet seating, and offers an exclusive cocktail menu for Fenwick customers. Highlights include Champagne cocktails, a rare spirits collection, and the signature ‘Cocktails and Cake’ afternoon tea experience, which pairs teapot-style cocktails with cakes from Fenwick's Mason + Rye.

Since launching its original basement bar on Cloth Market in 2019, Mother Mercy now has four permanent venues across the North East - Fenwick Newcastle, Cloth Market, Café Mercy on Grey Street, and Sheepfolds Stables in Sunderland.
