Scream of the crop at Sheepfolds
A popular North East pizza chain is the latest to join the impressive line-up at Sunderland’s new Sheepfolds Stables development.
I Scream for Pizza has opened a 60-seater restaurant, creation 20 jobs, serving New York-style pizzas, homemade ice cream and weekend breakfasts in the popular new venue in the shadow of the Stadium of Light.
Sarah Kilby, I Scream for Pizza’s group operations manager, said: “Scream for Pizza started more than 10 years ago, with our mobile pizza van. Now, we’ve opened our largest site so far and grown our team to include 20 new members of staff, in a range of front of house and kitchen roles.
“Being part of Sheepfolds Stables has given us a brilliant opportunity to expand the business, and people will notice that we’ve introduced some new menu items in Sunderland, like our weekend breakfasts and our hot dogs which use locally sourced, rare-breed pork sausages,” added Sarah.
“It’s a family-friendly place where anyone can come and get freshly made, affordable food, whether they want a sit-down meal or to grab a slice and enjoy the outdoor space at Sheepfolds.”
The first I Scream for Pizza outlet opened on Newcastle quayside in 2021, building on a takeaway offer that was developed during the pandemic. The team also has a Scream for Pizza restaurant in Sandyford, Newcastle, and a mobile pizza van, which both serve Neapolitan-style pizzas.
The new Sunderland site includes a ‘grab and go’ pizza offer alongside the restaurant and a new, expanded menu.
The lease and licensing for the new outlet were arranged by North East law firm Sintons, with licensing specialist, Sarah Smith, securing both the licence for I Scream for Pizza and for the Sheepfolds site as a whole.
Sarah said: “So many people have worked together to make Sheepfolds Stables a success and we can see that I Scream for Pizza is already hugely popular.
“We’ve worked with the team before, securing the licence for their quayside venue, and it’s been a pleasure to be involved in this next stage of growth for the business.”
