Oakland reaffirms commitment to fostering a ‘world class workforce’ with appointment of new head of people
Leeds-based data consultancy company Oakland have appointed Sam Fearnley as the new head of people.
Sam brings a wealth of experience having worked in HR roles across a range of sectors with organisations such as Ideal Care Homes, Pure Gym, Grantley Hall, and, most recently, IMA.
She is now focused on making a positive impact at Oakland, in which she will continue to always put “people-first, process-second” and look to enhance opportunities for personal growth, opportunity and recognition.
Sam said: “The people experience is at the heart of our strategy.
“I aim to build on the solid foundations already in place and create an environment where everyone feels valued and inspired to do their best work.”
High on her agenda will be launching the Oakland Learning Academy, which will focus on personal development, succession planning, and early career opportunities. She will also develop a comprehensive DEIB strategy with clear goals around inclusivity and education.
This is an area in which Oakland, one of the few data consultancies to be recognised as a B Corp, has already made great strides, though Sam believes the company has the ambition and commitment to do more.
“Oakland has already achieved best company world class status, but there is a clear ambition to reach even greater heights.
“After meeting with several team members, it was evident that Oakland doesn’t just talk the talk; they genuinely walk the walk. The culture was inspiring, and I saw a great opportunity to contribute to an outstanding people experience.
“I was looking for a role where I could make a lasting impact and quickly felt at home here.
“We are committed to staying at the forefront of people experience trends, guided by our values and dedication to being a world-class employer.”
