SGP appoints new operations director to facilitate further growth

Huddersfield-based glass manufacturer Specialist Glass Products (SGP) have appointed a new operations director.

Kevin Small has joined the firm following a £1.75m investment into the business to enhance production capabilities.

He brings nearly two decades of experience in the glass manufacturing industry, having spent 19 years with a Dundee-based company specialising in sealed unit glass manufacturing. He will now oversee all aspects of production operations, as the company looks to expand its product offering following an influx of orders.

Kevin said: “Looking towards the future, a key objective for SGP will be to explore new market opportunities, push the boundaries of glass manufacturing, and place ourselves at the forefront of the industry, and I’m looking forward to being a part of that.”

Over the past 24 months, the family-owned business, which specialises in high-quality curved, flat, and custom-made toughened and laminated glass products that are used in building facades, balustrades, spiral stairs, and shopfronts throughout the UK, Europe, and the United States, has completed over 26,500 orders. Kevin’s appointment will be vital in ensuring the firm can manage the increased demand moving forward.

Andrew Taylor, managing director, added: “Kevin brings abundant expertise in glass manufacturing, which will benefit the company's growth.

“His experience in operational direction, people management and growth management will be crucial as we continue to expand.”

Alongside Kevin's appointment, the company has seen its workforce expand significantly in recent months, increasing to a headcount of 102 following the additions of an assistant works manager, quality assistant, transport, dispatch, and production administrator.
