Hotel's sustainability efforts earn gold accreditation

A Leeds hotel has achieved the prestigious Gold Green Tourism Accreditation, marking a major step in its commitment to sustainability.

The Queens Hotel, known for its art deco charm and modern elegance, has earned gold status within the Green Tourism programme, the highest award possible, reflecting excellence in eco-friendly and socially responsible practices.

Following a £16 million refurbishment in 2021, the hotel, which is part of the Pandox portfolio and is managed by Axiom Hospitality, established a green team and implemented an ESG policy, which included transitioning from gas to electric energy, installing LED lighting, and partnering with AI-supported Winnow to cut food waste by 30 per cent.

Sustainable practices at the hotel extend to reduced single-use plastics and carbon-footprint-labelled menus, providing guests with eco-conscious dining options.
