Legrand 'states confidence' with 200-job factory

An electronics firm has unveiled 200-job North East factory plans.

Legrand is building a site in Cramlington, Northumberland.

It says the hub – set to open next year – will host the company’s CP Electronics division, which provides lighting controls to commercial, public sector and domestic customers, and the Legrand Care offshoot that designs and makes digital products for the health and social care sectors.

Bosses say the Nelson Park Industrial Estate-based venture will boost “Legrand’s mission to improve lives by transforming the spaces where people live, work and meet”.

Pascal Stutz, chief executive at Legrand UK & Ireland, said: “The new Cramlington facility underscores our confidence in the UK’s manufacturing sector and particularly in the skilled workforce in the North East.”

Tim Witty, development director at UK Land Estates, added: “This is an incredibly exciting project.

“We constantly invest in our portfolio, and Legrand’s new base delivers the highest possible energy efficiency standards, as well as offering space for the global business to grow and flourish here in the North East.”

Legrand has also revealed plans to create a London-based research and development centre and testing laboratory, which will house a training academy and operations support teams.
