Glacier Energy boosts capabilities with deal
Aberdeen-headquartered Glacier Energy has acquired Advanced Group Services (AGS) to strengthen its mechanical solutions capabilities and expand services across renewable and industrial markets in the North East.
Washington-based AGS, an independent heat transfer company that specialises in the manufacture, supply, refurbishment and repair of heat exchangers, will serve as a new mechanical solutions hub for Glacier Energy, enabling the company to enhance its heat exchanger repair and refurbishment services.
Bosses say they have ambitions to “double AGS’s business size within three years”, with Glacier Energy planning to leverage pull-through opportunities from its other group companies.
Scott Martin, chief executive officer of Glacier Energy, said: “The acquisition of AGS is a significant milestone for Glacier Energy.
“The North East of England offers an ideal environment for our expansion as it is rapidly becoming a centre for renewable and industrial growth.
“This acquisition allows us to build on AGS’s established reputation and develop a robust base to deliver expanded services across industrial and rail markets.”
This acquisition, supported by recent investment from Averroes Capital and BGF, complements Glacier’s acquisition of Teesside-based Francis Brown in August, further strengthening its market presence in the region.
AGS’s 26,000 sq. ft. Washington facility will also serve as a strategic location to attract skilled talent, support regional economic growth and reinforce Glacier Energy’s long-term commitment to sustainable industry development.
Philip Riches, managing director of AGS, added: “This acquisition represents an exciting opportunity for AGS, enabling a broader range of mechanical services to be provided to our loyal customer base.
“There is a strong cultural and strategic fit between the companies and the acquisition will set AGS on a strong path to continue supporting the industrial and rail markets it serves with renewed focus and commitment.”
