Funding aids BindEthics’ sustainable adhesives
An innovative company is advancing eco-friendly building solutions with the support of significant investment.
BindEthics, a pioneer in sustainable adhesives for engineered wood, has secured £413,000 over two funding rounds through angel investments facilitated by Lifted Ventures and an Innovate UK grant.
Bosses say the funding will “drive forward” the development of BindEthics’ non-toxic adhesive made from industrial food waste, offering a recyclable, environmentally friendly alternative that reduces adhesive-related emissions by 85 per cent.
This investment propels BindEthics into a new phase of product testing and commercialisation, positioning the company to meet the rising demand for circular materials in the construction industry.
Victoria Garcia, chief executive of BindEthics, said: “We are thrilled to drive forward with our vision, transforming the engineered wood products industry with adhesives that are not only sustainable but support full lifecycle circularity.
“This latest funding, alongside the invaluable guidance from Lifted Ventures, allows us to accelerate the adoption of eco-friendly materials across the construction sector.
“Our adhesive technology is a crucial step towards a healthier planet and aligns perfectly with industry’s movement toward net-zero.”
Lifted Ventures, co-founded in 2023 by Jordan Dargue and Helen Oldham, has played a pivotal role in supporting female founders and fostering innovation, leveraging over £4.2 million in funding since its inception.
Helen added: “We are delighted to have supported Victoria through this critical phase of product development and are eager to see what lies ahead for BindEthics.
“With Lifted Ventures’ support, Victoria secured a substantial Innovate UK grant, positioning her business to thrive.
“It has been especially rewarding to work with a leader in our hometown of Leeds, and we look forward to supporting many more partnerships with Leeds University-backed businesses.”
