Positive Support for You secures expansion boost
A care provider is set to enhance its impact on individuals and communities with significant investment.
Positive Support for You (PSFY) has secured £150,000 from Northstar Ventures, alongside a £37,500 grant from the Community Foundation serving Tyne and Wear and Northumberland.
The funding will enable PSFY to expand its person-centred care approach, which supports individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs in their own homes or communities.
With a focus on dignity and independence, PSFY’s tailored care reduces hospitalisation and aligns with the Transforming Care Policy to enhance lives. Its diverse team of highly trained staff uses de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviours, promoting trust and understanding.
Dave Barras, chief executive of PSFY, said: “We have been thrilled with the support from Northstar Ventures over several years.
“The new funds we have secured are enabling us to expand our operations to work with children and young people in addition to our existing work with adults.
“Everyone we support has complex needs linked to their learning disability, autistic spectrum conditions or mental ill health, and we are passionate about enabling each person to have their best life, living in their own community.”
Ian Richards, director of Northstar Ventures, added: “We are delighted to continue to support the outstanding work done by Dave and his team.”
Rob Williamson, director of The Community Foundation serving Tyne and Wear, added: “We are pleased to provide grant funding as part of the financial package to Positive Support For You.
“We know that there is considerable need for the kind of care and support the organisation provides, and its expansion is to be welcomed.”
