The Exchange 1856 crowned business of the year
The Exchange 1856 has claimed the coveted top spot at the North Tyneside Business Awards, celebrating its role as a hub for community, culture and economic growth.
Located in North Shields, the venue has revitalised a recently refurbished space into a bustling hub for events, dining and entertainment, drawing over 50,000 visitors and creating 30 local jobs. Its exceptional contributions and innovative approach also earned it the ‘New Business Award’.
Held at the Village Hotel in Cobalt Park and hosted by BBC Newcastle’s Anna Foster, the awards celebrate the achievements of local businesses that make a significant contribution to the borough’s economy and community. Each category winner was automatically entered into the prestigious ‘Business of the Year’ award, which The Exchange 1856 went on to win.
Stuart Egan, managing director of The Exchange 1856, said: “It’s been a hard 18 months but well worth the effort. I’m delighted with the award, proud for the team and it’s great for the local community.”
The event also featured the Heart of the Community Award, voted for by the public, with the North East Nipple Project taking the honour for its community support efforts.
Michael James, chair of the North Tyneside Business Forum, added: “The North Tyneside Business Awards highlight the exceptional businesses in our area that contribute so much to our community and economy.
“We’re incredibly proud of all the finalists and winners, whose dedication and hard work are a testament to the strength and resilience of North Tyneside’s business community.
“Their achievements make North Tyneside a fantastic place to live, work, and visit.”
