Consultiv Utilities tops North East rankings

A North East utilities provider has been named the ‘Best Company to Work For’ in the region and the 'Best Utilities Company to Work For' in the UK for 2024, reflecting its commitment to rewarding employee performance and fostering a strong workplace culture.

South Tyneside-based Consultiv Utilities, which employs over 170 staff at its Hebburn headquarters and delivers utilities services across electricity, gas, water, waste and communications, has achieved these accolades on the 2024 Best Companies to Work For List.

Known for its competitive benefits, including twice-yearly pay awards and additional performance-based holidays, the company, which “places a massive emphasis on workforce engagement”, has granted staff the entire month of December off this year following another outstanding performance.

Consultiv Utilities also received the ‘Special Award for Wellbeing’ in the mid-size category, with judges praising the company’s efforts to “positively impact all aspects of their employees’ health” and recognising its investments in mental health resources and flexible working arrangements.

The national awards, based on employee surveys, also ranked Consultiv Utilities as the UK’s third best mid-sized employer, thanks to its vibrant work culture and focus on continuous learning, inclusivity, and supportive leadership.

Mark Potts, people director at Consultiv Utilities, said: “We place a massive emphasis on workforce engagement and we understand that to get the best out of our team we need to make Consultiv Utilities a dynamic and enjoyable place to work.

“We also need to offer staff clear paths for progression so that they can turn their career aspirations into a reality.

“Through professional development opportunities, health benefits, team events and staff perks, we’re working hard to do our bit to make utilities an industry that people want to work in.”

With ambitious plans to grow its headcount by 30 in 2025, the business is now looking to recruit experienced energy professionals and will be offering opportunities through its Academy programme to develop new talent.
