Teesside mechanical firm targets major expansion
A family-run mechanical and electrical services company is set to double in size, creating jobs and driving regional growth after securing significant contracts and investment.
Stockton-based JH Mechanical & Electrical, founded by John and Heather Heward in 2013, has grown from a one-person operation to a team of 44 employees.
Recent long-term contracts, including one with North Yorkshire Council and renewals with clients including Northern Education Trust and Newcastle University, will enable the business to expand its workforce, adding 10 new roles over the coming years.
To support this growth, the company secured a six-figure loan from NPIF II-FW Capital Debt Finance, which will fund infrastructure investment and workforce development.
Heather said: “Both the new contracts and the renewal of existing contracts are testament to our commitment to quality and to delivering a quality service on time and on budget.
“The investment secured from FW Capital Debit Finance will allow us to continue investing in our people as we grow.”
Committed to apprenticeships and training, JH Mechanical & Electrical has hired mature apprentices, upskilled staff in commercial gas qualifications, as well as funding a technical degree for an employee this year.
With plans to enter new regions and continue reinvesting in the community, including sponsoring of local athlete Marlie Corbyn, the company remains focused on delivering high-quality services and fostering career development for its employees.
Commenting on the growth of the company, John added: “We’re excited about the future. These successes allow us to reinvest in both our business and our people.
“Alongside expanding the team, we’ve launched a managers essentials training programme to help new managers transition from the site to the office, helping us retain experience and giving them to tools to succeed.”
