Cyber firm expands with Glasgow base
A cybersecurity company has moved into a newly-regenerated commercial hub in Glasgow’s East End as part of “ambitious growth plans”.
Acumen Cyber has relocated to EastWorks, in Dalmarnock, occupying more than 6800 sq ft of space to support its expanding Security Operations Centre (SOC) and growing team.
The new premises will host Acumen Cyber’s advanced 24/7 SOC, equipped with pioneering threat detection, prevention and response technologies.
The company, known for its engineering-led managed security services, plans to increase its workforce to 50 by 2025 and establish itself as a top five UK Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) within five years.
Partnering with industry leaders such as Elastic, CrowdStrike, Fortinet and Recorded Future, Acumen already offers clients one of the most comprehensive security engineering capabilities in the UK.
Mark Robertson, chief revenue officer and co-founder, said: “Moving to EastWorks represents a significant step in Acumen Cyber’s growth journey as we look to increase turnover and the size of our team.
“This modern space will be the new centre for our business and will help our team of talented cyber security engineers to protect our clients across the world from the rapidly evolving threat landscape.
“With such an attractive space and great transport connectivity, we are confident that establishing a presence at EastWorks helps to support a fantastic working environment for our existing team and will make it easier to recruit talented people as part of our ambitious growth plans.”
Situated within a Victorian-era gas purifier shed repurposed by Clyde Gateway, the £9 million EastWorks development is an exemplar of sustainable innovation, being the first commercial building to be connected to Clyde Gateway’s District Heating Network which provides sustainable heat and hot water to the building.
Acumen joins other prominent tenants, including ESG specialist Utopi and collaborative workspace provider Red Tree Business Suites, marking EastWorks as a growing business hub.
Martin McKay, chief executive at Clyde Gateway, added: “The Scottish digital technology sector is one of the fastest growing in Scotland, and I’m particularly pleased to see Acumen Cyber join a growing innovation cluster in Dalmarnock, as the location and EastWorks provide a real platform for growth.
“This new space will give the business the room to grow, reach its potential, and bring more highly skilled jobs to the East End of Glasgow.
“Clyde Gateway’s mission is to make the area the best place to live, work and play, and EastWorks is a great example of this.
“Here, we have been able to preserve the industrial heritage of the past whilst creating a space for innovation and having Acumen Cyber and Utopi here is evidence that our strategy is delivering.”
