Growth goals as sports event firm secures backing

A growing sports hospitality operator has secured funding to drive its expansion into major global events and create jobs.

Vision4Sport Events (V4SE), based in Nottingham, has received £300,000 in debt finance from the Midlands Engine Investment Fund II (MEIF II), operated by the British Business Bank and managed by Maven Capital Partners.

Officials say it will allow the firm to “grow to new heights” and “realise ambitious growth plans”.

Established in 2014 by former professional golfers Chris Newbold and Karl Wesson, the company delivers tailored experiences at high-profile sporting events such as Wimbledon, Formula One and the Ryder Cup, as well as offering exclusive golf tours.

Having achieved a strong post-pandemic recovery, turnover has reached more than £3 million in 2024.

Chris, director, said: “Like many businesses, the pandemic had a huge impact on us and our ability to operate.

“The investment from MEIF II and the support Maven has shown will allow us to grow the business to new heights with some exciting projects and events being added to the portfolio.”

The funding will help drive V4SE’s growth across key areas, including an expanded presence at international events, including the Abu Dhabi and Las Vegas Grand Prixs and The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass, in Florida.

Bosses say jobs will be created in sales, business development and finance roles to support the moves.

Jonathan Lowe, partner - regional debt funds at Maven, added: "We are pleased to support Vision4Sport as they enter this exciting new chapter.

“Their resilience and dedication to exceptional service, even through recent challenges, are a testament to their strength in the sports hospitality sector.

“Our investment will provide V4SE with the capital, expertise and insight to continue building on a solid foundation, realising ambitious growth plans and seizing new opportunities in the market.”

Jody Tableporter, director at British Business Bank, added: "The MEIF II was launched to help ambitious entrepreneurs and small businesses scale up and grow.

“This investment in Vision4Sport further highlights the importance of having access to the right type of finance at the right time.

“It will enable the business to expand, create new jobs and make a positive impact in the region."
