ICAEW names new regional director

Dr Kim Johnston has been appointed as the new regional director for the North East, Yorkshire and Humber regions by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). She takes over from Dr James Callaghan, who has retired.

Dr Johnston brings extensive experience across the private, public and charitable sectors, with a strong focus on commercial business development.

Her most recent roles include chief commercial officer at MS3 Networks and regional partnership director at CityFibre. Previously, she held positions as business development officer for Leeds City Council and communications manager for Leeds Chamber of Commerce.

With a PhD focusing on the integration of teams within the English health and social care system, Dr Johnston is well-versed in collaborative working across organisations.

In her new role, she will lead ICAEW’s efforts to support its members and enhance the profession's presence across the region.

She said: “I am thrilled to have joined ICAEW and to have the opportunity to work as regional director in partnership with members across the North East, Yorkshire and the Humber.

“The current economic challenges require our members to be adaptable, proactive, and continuously informed about the latest developments in technology, regulation, and economic conditions.

“I look forward to providing opportunities and showcasing the excellent work our members are doing within the region.”
