Azets appoints new regional leader

Specialist local accountants and business advisory group Azets, which has offices across Durham, Newcastle, Alnwick, Morpeth and more in the North East, as well as Leeds, Bradford and York in Yorkshire, has appointed Ian Beaumont as regional senior partner for the North East and Yorkshire.

Formerly the head of KPMG in the North East, Ian brings decades of experience from roles at Haines Watts, RSM Robson Rhodes, BDO and KPMG, working with privately owned, private equity-backed, family-owned and listed businesses.

He said: “This is an exciting time for the North East, with two Combined Authorities providing stimulus for growth, a strong traditional business community and the growth of new sectors, such as energy transition, digital, space and the creative sector.

“Who would not want to be part of the North East and play a small part in supporting businesses and the region to maximise the opportunities?

“I am delighted to be joining Azets to support a strong regional leadership team.

“Azets is fantastically placed to support aspiring regional businesses and their owners with expertise that will support them along the full growth lifecycle.

“With growth comes additional complexity for our clients and, as a national firm, we are able to call upon national specialists as well as provide international reach.”

Brian Laidlaw, Azets’ head of North East, added: “ We have a fantastic team in the region and Ian’s experience and knowledge of our regional market will further enhance our strong offering to businesses and their owners at this exciting time in the North East.”

Russell Turner, regional managing director for North East & Yorkshire, also added: “To attract a heavyweight business advisor of Ian’s calibre is a genuine coup.

“With more than 35 years’ experience in this region, Ian’s appointment demonstrates our commitment to develop and attract top talent in order to ensure we can provide the high quality advice and support regional businesses and their owners deserve.”
