Ramboll names permanent UK managing director

Global architecture, engineering and sustainability consultancy Ramboll has appointed Neil Sansbury as managing director for the UK and Ireland on a permanent basis.

Neil, who joined Ramboll in 2016, brings extensive experience and knowledge of the company’s UK operations to the role. He has already contributed significantly to Ramboll’s strategy as ‘The Partner for Sustainable Change,’ including playing a key role in the acquisition of i3 Solutions, a leading data centre consultancy.

Previously acting managing director since July, Neil succeeds Philippa Spence, who now leads Ramboll’s 3,000-strong global environment & health Division. Prior to this, Neil served as finance and executive director, guiding the company through challenges such as Brexit, the pandemic and economic uncertainty.

Under Neil’s leadership, Ramboll will continue driving sustainability initiatives as the UK advances toward its net-zero goals and develops as a low-carbon leader.

He said: “There is no disguising that the market has been affected by the difficult economic climate, but we are pleased to be ending the year on a positive note and look forward to 2025.

“The next five years are critical for our climate; therefore we remain steadfastly committed to supporting our clients as our country transitions to net-zero, ensuring lasting positive impacts for society and nature, and building in resilience to the impacts of climate change.”

Peter Heymann Andersen, Ramboll’s chief operating officer, added: “With nearly a decade of experience at Ramboll, Neil has provided a firm and steady hand on the tiller in the UK & Ireland.

“We are delighted that he will be continuing in his role as managing director and I look forward to working closely with him to continue growing our reputation as a trusted partner to our clients.”
