Northstar Ventures bolsters investment team
Northstar Ventures has expanded its investment team with the addition of Dr. Will Cousins as investment manager.
With a PhD in translational and clinical research from Newcastle University, Will brings extensive experience in life sciences. His research has focused on identifying prognostic biomarkers and treatment strategies for head and neck cancers, as well as collaborating with biotechnology companies on diagnostics, assay development and therapeutics.
In his new role, Will manages Northstar’s active life sciences portfolio and will identify new investment opportunities. Passionate about venture capital and early-stage investments, he is particularly focused on translating biotechnology innovations into commercially viable solutions.
Originally from Nottinghamshire, Will now calls the North East home and is excited to contribute to the region’s thriving innovation ecosystem.
He said: “Newcastle University was a natural choice for me, it has a formidable reputation in the sphere of life sciences.
“There are several university spinouts from the North East region with truly groundbreaking ideas in operation. Several of these hold a place in Northstar’s portfolio.
“What interests me is the role that venture capital plays in homing in on industry-transformative solutions, then giving them the backing they need to put them on the trajectory they deserve.
“Being able to fund businesses which have the potential to globally impact some of society’s biggest health-related challenges is a privilege. I’m incredibly excited to be part of the Northstar Team.”
