Teesside firm Paralloy spreads festive cheer
A Teesside-based manufacturing company is helping make Christmas brighter for underprivileged children across the region, while continuing its wide-reaching community support initiatives.
Paralloy, with sites in Billingham, Middlesbrough and Sheffield, rallied employees to donate over 500 gifts to the Cash for Kids Mission Christmas and Salvation Army Christmas appeals.
Led by married employees Tammy and Rob Waters, who work for the company in Billingham, the initiative saw toys collected for children of all ages, with local toy shop Beanie Games providing discounts and free games to bolster the donations.
Tammy said: “We know it’s been a very difficult time for lots of people and the idea of a child waking up with no Christmas present is so sad, so we thought we had to do something.
“It’s been wonderful – the response we’ve had from everybody here has just been fantastic.”
HR manager Ian Grimes added: “We’re fortunate to have good jobs and can afford to buy presents for our children, but we know that there are a lot of people in this region who are not so well off.
“That’s why all through the year, and particularly at Christmas, we are on our own mission to connect with our communities.
“Our aim is to make Paralloy more visible to the world, but at the same time we think it’s really important to support our local community.
“It’s been a fantastic 2024 for Paralloy but we’re only too aware that it has continued to be a tough year for many people in the region and that is why we will always do our best to help.”
The company’s community efforts stretch far beyond Christmas. This year, Paralloy supported youth sailing, football and dance initiatives, sponsored local sports teams including the Billingham rugby team, and invested in education through apprenticeships, T-Level placements and careers days with the Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy Trust.
Recently recognised with a King’s Award for Enterprise, Paralloy has expanded significantly, recruiting 160 employees in the last year and acquiring French firm Manoir, doubling its workforce to around 1,100.
