Hull College vice principal honoured with OBE
An education leader has been awarded an OBE in recognition of her outstanding contributions to further education and the transformative impact she has had on her institution.
Lynette Leith, vice principal for curriculum and skills at Hull College, played a pivotal role in driving the college’s remarkable resurgence, culminating in a ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted in October 2023.
Under her leadership, the college achieved ‘Outstanding’ ratings for Adult Provision and Personal Development and was commended for strong skills and employer engagement.
Over the past three years, Lynette has spearheaded Hull College’s transformation into a thriving hub of learning and opportunity, aligning its curriculum with the needs of students and the regional economy.
She said: “Receiving this recognition is incredibly humbling. For me, this reflects the wonderful FE sector and the many teams and individuals that have coached, counselled and guided me along the way.
“Most importantly, this is recognition of the entire Hull College team - The Hullraisers. It is a genuine privilege to work with the team every day, and I’m immensely proud of what we’ve achieved together. I am honoured, humbled and proud.”
Her commitment to equality and innovative curriculum development has earned the college national recognition and solidified its role as a driver of social and economic growth in the Humber region.
Debra Gray MBE, principal and chief executive of Hull College, added: “Lynette’s OBE is richly deserved and underscored her pivotal role in Hull College’s journey of transformation.
“Her leadership and the collective efforts of the Hullraiser team has cemented our status as a vital education, training and skills resource for the community.
“This is a proud moment for all of us at Hull College.”
