Caswells Group grows with Cutler Cleaning deal
A business supplies firm has expanded with a £1.6 million takeover.
Teesside-based Caswells Group has bought Macclesfield’s Cutler Cleaning.
Bosses say the deal will open the “next chapter” in Caswells Group’s growth plans, adding the agreement has secured Cutler Cleaning’s 25-strong workforce.
Based in Billingham, near Stockton, Caswells Group supplies products including personal protective equipment, workwear, cleaning goods and lubricants to customers nationwide.
Cutler Cleaning supplies protective equipment and janitorial and catering ranges from its 14,000sq ft Cheshire site.
The deal builds on work between the two firms across the last decade, and Paul Murphy, Caswells Group commercial director, said it provides great scope for further expansion.
He said: “We have worked with Cutlers for around ten years, as Jangro colleagues, and we share a similar business ethos.
“There is a complementary skill set, our teams have worked together closely and, like us, Cutler Cleaning has a loyal and long standing customer base.
“It made perfect sense, and we’re excited for this next chapter.”
Paul Whitehead, Cutler Cleaning’s previous managing director, added: “I had been looking to retire and sell the business, but wanted to protect the interests of our customers and staff.
“We have worked with Caswells for many years, and I know that this is a positive move, which will ensure the ongoing success of the business and be of great benefit to both sides.”
Caswells Group was advised by Anderson Barrowcliff and Knights plc, with Cutler Cleaning supported by Higgs LLP.
