New jobs in pipeline as firm wins water work
A pipelines firm says it will create scores of jobs after securing a “major milestone” utilities contract.
UTS Engineering says it expects to add at least 50 full-time staff and 25 full-time trainees thanks to a multi-year Thames Water framework deal.
Bosses have now launched a recruitment drive for welders, fabricators and on-site technicians.
The company, based in Jarrow, South Tyneside, will make pipe fittings and provide under pressure drilling and line stopping services.
The business – which employs about 450 staff and last year bought Scunthorpe’s PTS Group – will also provide 24-7 emergency support services, with officials confirming the contract will support job growth across its Lincolnshire division.
The deal further bolsters UTS Engineering’s market presence, which has been augmented in recent years by expansion into Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
Neil Rowling, UTS Engineering’s commercial director, said: “The team has worked so hard on the tender for the past 18 months, and are delighted to have been selected to work on this framework.
“This contract is a major milestone and is testament to our reputation in the industry for delivering high-quality products and services.”
