North East businesses to share sustainability stories
A North East business event is set to inspire positive change by bringing together companies committed to making an impact.
The 'Business with Impact Dinner', hosted by BeaconHouse Events and Venture Zero, will take place at Magic Hat Café, in Newcastle, on March 27.
The event invites business leaders to share ideas on sustainability, community and wellbeing, with attendees having the opportunity to deliver five-minute ‘lightning talks’ on their chosen topic and network with like-minded organisations.
Sarah Thackray, co-founder and director at BeaconHouse Events, said: “We are motivated to collaborate and encourage our team, clients, suppliers and network to make positive changes together.
“There isn’t a quick fix when it comes to becoming more sustainable, and businesses are often too scared to ask questions, share smaller steps that they are taking or talk about barriers to success – but it’s in those conversations that real change happens.”
Clare Blunt, co-founder and director of Venture Zero, added: “The real ESG impact lies in joining the dots and understanding the connection between the many challenges we’re all facing.
“With issues such as the climate emergency, rising cost of living and a mental health crisis reshaping the business landscape, stakeholders are seeking meaningful engagement with businesses that prioritises wellbeing, sustainability and purpose alongside profit.
“We hope this dinner provides an opportunity for people to connect and collaborate with others, as collectively our impact can be even greater than originally anticipated.”
The event will track and offset carbon emissions, with ten per cent of proceeds supporting Project Bind, a non-profit tackling food waste.
Sponsored by BluSky, a North East-based B Corp accountancy firm, the event is part of an ongoing effort to drive sustainable change across the region.
Businesses interested in attending can book their space via Eventbrite.
