Building work begins on Yorkshire business hub
Construction has started on a North Yorkshire business hub.
Opus North and Bridges Fund Management have begun work on Harrogate 47, a 106,000sq ft mixed-use employment scheme at Junction 47 of the A1(M).
Due for completion in autumn 2025, officials say the development will offer flexible units ranging from 5540sq ft to 21,600sq ft, designed for industrial, logistics, office and hi-tech use.
The scheme, backed by Harrogate Borough Council, aims to support 2000 jobs.
Ryan Unsworth, joint managing director of Opus North, said: “Seeing construction of the units get underway at Harrogate 47 is a great way to start the year.
“Our innovative scheme has been designed with energy efficiency in mind to offer sustainable, high-quality property solutions for businesses.”
Councillor Mark Crane, North Yorkshire Council’s executive member for open to business, added: “This is a very welcome investment in mixed use business accommodation in North Yorkshire.
“It’s in a prime location to boost employment in the county and encourage economic growth across a range of sectors.
“We look forward to seeing the development take shape and hearing about the businesses that will eventually occupy the site.”
Stainforth Construction has been appointed as main contractor, with CBRE and Gent Visick handling lettings for the development.
