Bellway builds on success with £5 million target
A national housebuilder has set a new fundraising goal after surpassing its previous target for Cancer Research UK.
Newcastle-based Bellway has raised more than £4.14 million since adopting CRUK as its partner charity in 2016, exceeding its £4 million target by the end of 2024.
Employees, contractors and suppliers contributed through events such as charity balls, memorial golf days and endurance challenges, including marathon runs and long-distance walks.
With a new £5 million target set for the end of 2025, Bellway has lined up a packed fundraising calendar, including the Great North Run, the London, Paris and Amsterdam Marathons, a Dragon Boat event, as well as its annual national charity day in September.
Rodica Damian, group deputy company secretary at Bellway, said: “Charitable giving is one of the key business priorities of our company-wide Better with Bellway sustainability strategy, which puts people and the planet first, and our long-running partnership with Cancer Research UK continues to go from strength to strength.
“We are thrilled and proud to have surpassed the ambitious target which we set for ourselves in our fundraising mission for the charity.
“We would like to extend a massive thank you to all of our colleagues, subcontractors and suppliers whose donations and support have made this achievement possible.
“We are looking forward to hearing many more inspiring fundraising stories from our colleagues in 2025 as we work towards our next goal of raising £5 million by the end of the year.”
Stephanie Parsons, partnership manager at Cancer Research UK, added: “I’d like to share my heartfelt thanks to everyone at Bellway for raising an incredible £4m for Cancer Research UK.
“Achieving this huge milestone highlights their continued commitment to supporting our vital work.
“Together we are making a difference. Together we are beating cancer.”
