YourFilm expands team with double hire
North East video production company YourFilm has kicked off 2025 with two new hires as it continues to grow in its milestone 20th year.
Gateshead-based YourFilm, known for creating TV ads and promotional films for brands including Flymo, Admiral, Nissan and Thomson Reuters, has appointed Maddie Tipping as studio manager and Josh James as a junior animator.
Maddie, a Durham University law graduate, will oversee project timelines and budgets, ensuring smooth production workflows.
Maddie, who had secured a role as a paralegal at a top Newcastle law firm but felt out of place in the legal industry, said: “I’d always loved drama and being creative and I think it took that time at the law firm to realise I just wasn’t cut out for that type of career.
“I’m enormously grateful Kevin and Matthew have taken a gamble on me and I can’t wait to get stuck into the great projects YourFilm are working on through 2025 and beyond.”
Josh, joining as an animator, blends his graphic design and animation skills to support a range of creative projects.
He follows in the footsteps of his brother Ben Cameron, whose early career also began at YourFilm before launching his own animation agency, Ecstasy of Gold.
Josh, a former Northumbria University student, added: “I’m already learning a host of new skills and processes around editing and production. It’s been a steep learning curve, but the team has been tremendously welcoming and helpful.
“Having felt a little frustrated in previous roles, bringing my animation skills to YourFilm feels like I’ve finally found the perfect match.”
Founded in 2005 by school friends Kevin Owens and Matthew Newman, YourFilm now boasts a ten-strong team as it continues to expand despite challenging industry conditions.
Matthew added: “Market conditions have been tricky, and we know of several agencies which have sadly struggled in recent years - so we don’t take it for granted that, after 20 years, YourFilm is in a position of strength, with great opportunities for further expansion this year.
“We’re very excited about our future and, 20 years in, still have the same passion and hunger to produce creative and memorable work which resonates with our clients’ audiences.
“We’re really excited that a new breed of eager production and film creatives, such as Maddie and Josh, see that they can develop their careers at YourFilm.
“We’re looking forward to them adding new dimensions to the growing team.”
