Approval for ex-cycle factory site homes plan
Plans have been approved to turn former fold-up bicycle factory land into a £13 million housing estate.
Redstart Robinson Developments has secured backing to build 40 homes on the ex-Vickersdale Works site, in Stanningley, near Leeds.
Bosses say the four-acre plot, home to Bootie Folding Cycle between 1965 and 1973, and latterly a scrapyard, will feature two, three and four-bedroom houses.
The blueprint, approved by Leeds City Council, also includes one and two-bedroom apartments.
Andrew Foggitt, director at Shipley-based Redstart Robinson Developments, said building work is earmarked to start in the summer, with the first properties planned for completion by early 2026.
He added: “The local area has seen considerable change in recent years from an industrial location to a mixed-use area, and our scheme will provide much needed high-quality housing for the growing local population.
“We are looking forward to getting works underway to breathe new life into this site and deliver a development that meets the needs of local people.”
He added the development will see solar panels installed on all properties, with nearly £100,000 set aside under a Section 106 agreement to improve green spaces and children’s play facilities.
