Harrison Wipes swoops for Ecotech in deal

A cleaning product maker has been sold in a pre-pack administration deal.

Harrison Wipes has swooped for Coventry-based Ecotech.

Bosses say the agreement has saved all 27 jobs at the business.

Ecotech makes more than 200 million wipes every year and is known for supplying products to the NHS, industrial operators and contract cleaning firms.

However, it was hit by rising rent costs, with Robert Dymond and Joanne Hammond, of Begbies Traynor in Sheffield, appointed as joint administrators to secure its sale.

Jason Lippitt, Ecotech director, said: “Business owners shouldn’t be frightened of seeking advice from insolvency practitioners.

“This is a perfect example how businesses can be saved when everyone pulls together.”

Stephen Harrison, managing director of Essex-based Harrison Wipes, added: “This is a pivotal moment, marking a key milestone in our growth strategy, and a significant development in our 134-year history.

“Ecotech’s range complements our portfolio of products, so I’m excited by what’s next.”

Tom Paton, Curtis Blackham and Rachel Piper, from Irwin Mitchell’s restructuring and insolvency team in Sheffield, together with Leeds-based partner Doug Robertson, advised Begbies Traynor.

Tom said: “This is a fantastic outcome for Ecotech and its employees.

“The collaboration between our team and Begbies Traynor was crucial in ensuring a smooth transition and securing the jobs of all employees.”
