Summers-Inman hails 'exciting' university work

A construction and project management consultancy has secured education deals.

Summers-Inman is working with the University of Sheffield.

The Newcastle-headquartered firm has been appointed to a multidisciplinary consultancy framework and a cost management services framework.

Bosses say the “truly exciting” partnerships will see the business work on a range of schemes with the university, which has more than 350 buildings across its estate and aims to deliver developments worth up to £300 million.

Alex Lodge, director at Summers-Inman, which runs offices in Edinburgh, London and Manchester, said: “This is a truly exciting appointment, and we are delighted to extend our reach in the higher education sector into Yorkshire.

“It allows us to bring our substantial experience gained on multi-million-pound, award-winning projects, such as the £27 million Dame Margaret Barbour Building for Newcastle University and the £36.9 million BIOS Laboratory and Life Sciences Building at Teesside University.”

Mark Holden, University of Sheffield EFM associate director: estates development, added: “University estates are continually evolving to meet the needs and expectations of the next generation of students and academics.

“I'm confident our recently appointed multidisciplinary teams have the expertise to provide high-level professional support that will enable us to deliver our ambitious estate plans over the next few years.”

Summers-Inman has further offices in Birmingham, Leeds, Leicester and Billingham, near Stockton.
