Ghostwriter appoints head of venues
North East-based Ghostwriter Consultancy & Events has appointed Helen McGee as head of venues to lead its expanding venue operations and partnerships.
Helen joins from Academy Music Group, where she was divisional manager (Operations Lead), bringing over 30 years of experience in event management, venue operations and strategic planning.
She has overseen major venues across the UK, managing financial performance, licensing, risk assessments and operational best practices.
Helen’s leadership in staff development and industry advocacy, including roles with the Music Venue Trust and initiatives with Bristol City Council and London’s City Hall, underscores her commitment to the live music sector.
At Ghostwriter, she will drive venue strategy, enhance client partnerships and ensure high-quality event execution, reinforcing the company’s position as a leading force in the music and events industry.
Helen said: “I’m excited to be joining Ghostwriter Consultancy & Events as their new head of venues.
“I’m looking forward to bringing my expertise in operations and management to enhance the experiences offered to clients, and to be working in such a supportive team environment.
“Their commitment to supporting grassroots venues and independent businesses within the industry is second to none, and I can’t wait to see where we go next.”
Carl Bathgate, Ghostwriter commercial director, added: “This is an exciting time for Ghostwriter and Helen’s appointment is indicative of that.
“As we expand into new markets and announce additional venue partnerships we are confident that Helen will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our venue strategy.
“Having previously worked alongside Helen at AMG I am more than aware of her capabilities, focus, analytical approach and unrelenting passion for venues and delivering fantastic artist and customer experiences.
“I’m delighted to welcome Helen to the Ghostwriter fold as an invaluable addition to our senior management team.”
