Dacre, Son & Hartley expands with takeover

An independent estate agent has expanded with a takeover.

Dacre, Son & Hartley has bought rural property consultancy Lister Haigh.

Bosses say the move will “play a major part in enhancing” Ilkley-headquartered Dacre, Son & Hartley’s rural and development offer.

They add Lister Haigh’s team, which offers agricultural and rural consultancy services alongside residential sales, lettings and property management support, has joined Dacre, Son & Hartley.

Founded more than 200 years ago, Dacre, Son & Hartley runs 18 offices across North and West Yorkshire.

Knaresborough-based Lister Haigh was established by Oswald Lister in 1919, creating a business of agricultural auctioneers and valuers.

Patrick McCutcheon, Dacre, Son & Hartley’s head of residential, said: “Lister Haigh is another long-established Yorkshire property company with an excellent reputation in the rural sector.

“The company has a hugely experienced team, including Catherine Johnston and Giles Chaplin, who will play a major part in our future offering.

“Crucially, it also gives Lister Haigh’s existing clients access to a much broader marketing and knowledge base across our 18 offices.

“Lister Haigh has a significant managed residential rentals portfolio in North Yorkshire, and this acquisition increases our growing market share.”

Catherine, Lister Haigh director, added: “Dacre, Son & Hartley is a very well-recognised and hugely respected name in Yorkshire property.

“There’s no doubt the combined skillset gives us one of the most experienced and knowledgeable rural and agricultural practices in the region.

“This is great news for our clients, our people and the sector.”
