Fortus grows with Charles Stewart & Co takeover

An independent business advisor has expanded with a takeover.

Fortus has bought Charles Stewart & Co.

Officials say the move for the Leeds-based accountant and business advisory firm “enhances its compliance capabilities (and) provides a robust foundation for further growth in the city”.

It comes after Fortus, which has offices in London and Manchester, hit record revenues, with figures forecast to exceed £10 million in 2026.

Craig Herbert, Fortus group chief executive, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome the talented Charles Stewart & Co team.

“We will be able to leverage the combined expertise of both teams, delivering enhanced value to clients of Charles Stewart & Co.

“This acquisition also solidifies our presence in Leeds and positions us for scalable growth.”

Andrew Charles, Charles Stewart & Co’s former owner, who is now a Fortus director, added: “This acquisition is crucial for my business and my team.

“Not only does it provide clients with an array of additional services, but it also gives my team the security of being part of a bigger business, which will unlock many opportunities for their own professional growth.

“It will very much be business as usual for all concerned, and I’m looking forward to working with Craig and his exceptional team in the coming years.”

Fortus has further offices in Leicester, Milton Keynes, Scarborough and York.
