Pure Padel unveils Darlington expansion
A leisure operator has unveiled North East expansion plans.
Pure Padel is opening a base in Darlington.
Bosses say the seven-court venture, set for a former DIY store, will open in May.
They add it will feature a shop, a bistro-style café and bar, a sports lounge and changing areas.
It follows Manchester-headquartered Pure Padel’s launch of sites in the city’s Dutton Street and Macclesfield’s Alderley Park, and its lodging of planning permission for a second North East site in Gosforth, Newcastle.
It also forms part of a blueprint to open as many as 30 bases in the next five years across areas including the Midlands, South West London and Cheshire.
Sammy Arora, founder and managing director of Pure Padel, said: “The Darlington site is the perfect location for the next club.
“We’ve targeted the North East due to its enormous growth potential.
“The region is fast becoming a padel hub, with lots of existing fans of the sport that are looking for new and accessible clubs.”
Ian Baggett, founder and chief executive of Newcastle-headquartered property developer Adderstone Group, which owns Pure Padel’s Darlington base, added: “Pure Padel is emerging as one of the leading players in the sector.
“The location of this new development in our Darlington premises is perfect for the growth of the sport in the town and surrounding communities.”
