A week in the life... Catriona Lingwood

In a new feature for Bdaily, Catriona Lingwood, chief executive of Constructing Excellence North East, provides an insight into her typical working week, highlighting how she balances commercial sector demands with life outside the office.

Monday: What gets you motivated for the start of the working week? 

I see Monday as a fresh start, offering a chance to review – and potentially reset – my original goals, as well as set new ones. 

A to-do list is essential, and a good cup of coffee helps too.

Tuesday: The diary is full of meetings and commitments – how do you balance such responsibilities with productivity?

Tuesdays can be busy with meetings and events. 

Our events range from CPD seminars and workshops to roundtable discussions, site visits and networking. 

My job is very varied, which keeps things interesting.

Wednesday: Halfway there – how do you stay focused and re-energise yourself for the days ahead?

Wednesday is a great day for catching up with the Constructing Excellence North East team and reviewing our progress. 

We check off key tasks and discuss what’s next; a cup of tea and some cake are always good motivators!

Every third Wednesday, we host a networking event in Teesside, which is always a great opportunity to meet up with members and new contacts.

Thursday: The weekend draws closer – how do you remain on top of your to-do list as the end of the week gets nearer?

By Thursday, you might expect things to quieten down.

But we often still have events, and are sometimes invited to join our members at their events too; supporting them is important.

Friday: The last day – how do you approach Fridays, and how do you unwind over the weekend?

I really enjoy Fridays in the office, wrapping up tasks and reflecting on the week’s progress.

I try to finish as many tasks as I can, and then plan for the following week.

My weekends are spent with friends and family. 

On Saturdays, I help at my local parkrun at Herrington Country Park, as part of the core team. 

I also love a walk, especially since we have some amazing places to explore right on our doorstep.
