Champions League boosts Newcastle United revenue

Newcastle United's return to Champions League action helped the club score higher earnings, new figures show. 

The Magpies saw revenue rise 28 per cent to £320.3 million in the year to June 30, 2024.

Significant growth in commercial and matchday revenue, increasing by 90 per cent and 32 per cent, respectively, contributed to the financial performance, which officials say leaves the club “in a strong position” ahead of the summer transfer window.

The club, currently sixth in the Premier League and soon to play Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final, also benefited from profits made through transfer dealings.

Darren Eales, chief executive, said: “We are committed to sustainable success, and we have started 2025 in a strong position.

“Returning to the Champions League for the first time in more than 20 years was hugely memorable for everyone connected with the club.

“We grew our revenues by 28 per cent in the 12 months, with an increase in matchday revenue, as well as significantly improved sponsorship deals and a sharper focus on everything we are doing across the club.

“We continue to make significant strides with our commercial deals and matchday offerings as we strengthen the foundations of the long-term project.”
