OnPath Energy moves forward with wind farm
A renewable energy developer is progressing with the construction of a new Scottish onshore wind farm following key contractor appointments.
OnPath Energy, headquartered in Sunderland and owned by Brookfield Asset Management, has selected Glasgow-based RJ McLeod to handle civil engineering and construction work for its Mill Rig Wind Farm, located on the South Lanarkshire and East Ayrshire border.
The global turbine manufacturer Nordex will provide the turbines, while energy consultancy Natural Power, headquartered in Castle Douglas, will oversee construction management.
Martin Kellerman, construction director at OnPath Energy, said: “RJ McLeod and Natural Power have been trusted partners for many years, helping us to successfully deliver several onshore wind farms across Scotland and England, while the Nordex turbines we’ve specified here will be among the most efficient operating anywhere in the UK.”
Development work is expected to begin before Easter, with the turbines set to be delivered during the autumn.
Construction and commissioning work is scheduled to be complete by spring 2026.
Set to have a 33.4MW generation capacity, Mill Rig Wind Farm will power 45,000 homes.
