Sedna steers AI innovation with takeover

A London-based technology company is strengthening its AI capabilities in global trade with a strategic acquisition in the North East.

Sedna, which provides a data-driven communication platform specifically designed for businesses involved in global trade, particularly those in the maritime industry, has acquired Flytta, an AI-powered workflow automation platform, expanding its UK footprint with a new office in Middlesbrough.

Bosses say the move will “accelerate” Sedna’s AI-driven communication and efficiency solutions, embedding automation into global trade processes and “tapping into the exceptional talent in Northern England”.

They add that Flytta’s customs automation technology will integrate into Sedna AI, streamlining operations for major clients. 

The deal also brings Alan Appleyard and Owain Brennan, Flytta’s co-founders, into Sedna’s team.
