HBD and Barnfield secure APTUS scheme boost
A development joint venture has been backed to deliver the next phase of a £100 million industrial scheme.
HBD and Barnfield Group have secured approval to build three further units at the APTUS hub.
The latest sites include two 26,507sq ft units and a 53,841sq ft detached base.
Bosses say APTUS, based in Preston, has potential to create up to 1500 jobs across an 800,000sq ft footprint.
Construction sector firm Kerakoll will occupy its first site, with building work set to start on its 145,000sq ft base in the summer.
Ed Hutchinson, managing director of HBD, which is part of Sheffield-headquartered Henry Boot, said: “APTUS is very well located, which, alongside its sustainability credentials and power capabilities, continues to drive strong interest from potential occupiers.”
Tracy Clavell-Bate, head of development at Nelson-based Barnfield Group, added: “Having planning permission allows us to go to market with an oven-ready scheme which is attractive to occupiers.
“There is limited supply in the market, allowing us to be ahead of the curve.”
HBD has further offices in Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, London and Manchester.
