Bernicia helps ‘meet local demand’ in Berwick
A £13 million project is set to bring affordable homes to Berwick.
Bernicia and Ascent Homes are working on a 56-property scheme on the site of the former Seton Hall.
Officials say it will deliver the “first affordable housing in Berwick for ten years”.
The project includes a mix of bungalows and houses available for social rent and shared ownership, with the first homes expected to be ready by late summer.
Paul Errington, Ascent Homes director, said: “We are delighted to be delivering a high-quality development, with a mixture of homes designed to meet the needs of local people.”
The scheme forms part of Bernicia’s £110 million investment to build 800 homes over four years, helping to address housing demand in Northumberland.
Jeff Boyd, Bernicia development director, added: “Our scheme will deliver much-needed quality affordable new homes for rent and shared ownership for the people of Berwick.
“The houses are being built to meet local demand – from people taking their first steps onto the housing ladder, through to young couples, families and older people needing a high-quality, energy efficient affordable home to rent.”
