Magpies soar over London in towering display
A striking display has lit up the London skyline ahead of the Carabao Cup Final, celebrating Newcastle United’s journey to the final in spectacular fashion.
Live events and experiences company Sela, Newcastle United’s front-of-shirt sponsor since 2023, projected images of players, match highlights and animated Magpies onto the 390ft Millbank Tower, on the banks of the River Thames, prior to this Sunday’s showpiece final at Wembley against Liverpool.
The display, featuring star striker Alexander Isak, captain Bruno Guimarães and defender Dan Burn, who today was called up to the England squad for the first time, marked the club’s return to Wembley with bold slogans and a giant Newcastle United scarf unfurling down the building, with Sela also donating a limited-edition scarf to all 32,000 Newcastle fans at the match.
Ibrahim Mohtaseb, Sela’s head of international business, said: “This is a huge moment for the club, fans and city of Newcastle – it only felt right to bring it to life in true, spectacular Sela fashion.
“Fans are the heart of the club, so we are thrilled to produce this show for them and provide every fan with a scarf inside Wembley on Sunday to thank them for their loyal support.
“Sela’s goal is to share our passion for creating spectacular live experiences with people worldwide, so it was brilliant to deliver this moment for fans ahead of Sunday’s final and for it to coincide with the launch of our international office in London.
“We wish Eddie Howe and the team the best of luck for the final.”
The display also marked Sela’s recent arrival into London, with the Saudi Arabian company announcing its new London headquarters this week as part of its global expansion.
