Port of Tyne strengthens innovation hub
The Port of Tyne has strengthened its 2050 Maritime Innovation Hub with the appointment of Elaine Scott as innovation partnerships manager.
Elaine joins from Space North East England, where she led the region’s space sector development, working with Business Durham, the UK Space Agency and local universities.
She will now focus on future-proofing the maritime industry by fostering skills, partnerships and innovations.
In the newly created role, Elaine will build strategic relationships with industry, academia and government to help businesses and start-ups accelerate ideas into commercial success.
She will also expand the Hub’s networks and capabilities, supporting companies in decarbonisation and digitalisation.
Elaine said: “I'm absolutely thrilled to join the Port of Tyne at this pivotal moment, as we are making a step change for both the Port itself and the 2050 Maritime Innovation Hub.
“The ambition is truly inspiring and the team here is amazing.
“I am excited to help take the Hub as a significant innovation asset in the North East and the UK to the next level along with colleagues and our partners.”
Dr Jo North, innovation ecosystem director at the Port of Tyne, added: “Elaine’s a fantastic addition to our team, she has a proven track record in championing innovation and collaboration, and her ability to bring together the right people and ideas will be invaluable to a greener, smarter maritime future.
“We’re thrilled to welcome her to the team.”
