Advantex picks up security deal for energy centre
An IT firm has secured a contract to deliver security support for a low-carbon energy centre.
Advantex, based in Gateshead, will provide security and surveillance systems at an AMP Clean Energy site.
The hub is supplying heat to Simpsons Malt's Tweed Valley Maltings site, in Berwick-upon-Tweed.
Working in partnership with renewable energy company Vital Energi, Advantex designed an integrated system featuring thermal imaging and real-time temperature monitoring to enhance safety and security.
Part of a five-figure investment, bosses say the system, which includes hardware from Milestone, Axis and Hikvision, will create a single solution that allows AMP to manage the site from one control room, reducing emissions by 80 per cent.
The contract is the latest milestone for Advantex, which saw turnover reach £12 million last year and its team expand to 70.
Steve Dobby, Advantex’s account manager, said: “Having previously collaborated on a successful project with Vital Energi, we were delighted to partner with them again on this initiative for AMP.
“This latest venture allowed us to leverage our expertise, implementing a tailored surveillance system that enhances site monitoring.”
Chris Hellon, Vital Energi associate design director, added: “Advantex was our clear choice for this venture.
“They quickly understood the project’s unique requirements and designed a solution that meets today’s needs while accommodating future growth.”
