Developer boosts Scottish presence with deal
A property developer has strengthened its Scottish presence with a building deal.
Scarborough Group International has bought the former Younger Building, in West Edinburgh.
Bosses say the six-storey former NatWest Group base will be transformed into Grade A office space to help address an ongoing shortage in the capital.
Work is earmarked to start in the summer.
Simon McCabe, chief executive at the Leeds, Scarborough and Sheffield-based operator, said: “The Younger Building is a fantastic opportunity for us.
“It’s in a great location, has excellent transport links and provides a strong foundation for transformation.
“We’re confident we will not only meet the growing demand for Grade A office space but set a new benchmark for occupiers in West Edinburgh.”
Scarborough Group International, which has further bases in London, Manchester and Hong Kong, bought the building from OakNorth Bank.
Benjamin Du Boulay, OakNorth Bank senior director, added: “Given Scarborough Group International’s impressive track record, we’re confident this redevelopment will contribute positively to West Edinburgh’s business landscape.
“We look forward to seeing their vision come to life.”
The scheme builds on previous Scottish work for Scarborough Group International, which includes the redevelopment of 110 St Vincent Street and RWF House, in Glasgow, and Edinburgh’s 93 George Street.
