Mains Cottages boosted by digital ad campaign

A Northumberland self-catering business has grown following a fully-funded digital marketing campaign.

Mains Cottages, a family-run business offering luxury holiday rentals across the Northumberland coastline, has benefited from tailored support through the Northumberland Small Business Service (NSBS). 

This included partnering with digital agency Far North for a targeted campaign that significantly boosted social media engagement, website traffic and bookings, enabling it to reach new audiences.

Samantha Smith, owner of Mains Cottages, which owns four properties and hosts a page dedicated to discovering Northumberland on its website, said: “The programme has been incredibly beneficial.

“The one-to-one support has been especially important for us as a small family business. 

“It’s allowed me to step back from daily operations and focus on our long-term vision."

Samantha added: “Working with Far North has been a game-changer. 

“The campaign not only gave us new leads and followers, but also taught me invaluable marketing skills to use in the future.”

The NSBS, delivered by Northumberland County Council and part-funded by the Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and the Rural England Prosperity Fund, provides tourism businesses with a £1500 digital marketing package, which includes £930 in ad spend and expert consultancy.

“The industry is such a key part of the Northumberland business landscape, and to support the businesses to build brand awareness, increase bookings and support with general social media growth is amazing.”
