TTE Centre launched to engineer future talent
An education institution has unveiled a new technical training facility.
Middlesbrough College has opened its £12 million TTE Centre, a “world-class” facility featuring advanced engineering workshops, process control labs and immersive virtual reality training areas.
Officials say the centre will aim to prepare students for careers in engineering and process industries with industry-standard equipment and hands-on learning environments.
Zoe Lewis, principal and chief executive of Middlesbrough College, said: “The opening of the TTE Centre marks a significant step forward in our commitment to providing students with the skills and knowledge that employers are looking for.
“This facility will strengthen our local economy, ensuring that the next generation of skilled professionals are equipped to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving industry.”
Broadcaster and Teesside native Steph McGovern was on hand to cut the ribbon at the launch event, which welcomed Chris Cooke, mayor of Middlesbrough, and industry leaders including AV Dawson, British Steel and Morgan Sindall, the contractors who built the centre.
Steph added: “It’s brilliant to see this kind of investment in the North East.
“The TTE Centre is exactly what young people need – access to world-class facilities and hands-on training that sets them up for successful careers.
“It’s proof the talent we have here in Teesside is second-to-none, and now students have the tools to really thrive.
“Having a centre like this gives young people the confidence and skills to compete on a national and even global stage – it’s a real game-changer for the region.”
