Park View housing scheme gets upgrade
A Northumberland-based supported housing scheme has received a major refurbishment aimed at enhancing residents’ wellbeing.
The £354,000 upgrade at Park View, in Lynemouth, managed by Karbon Homes, has modernised 37 homes for over-55s.
Improvements include redecoration, new flooring, fire-rated doors and an upgraded telecare system.
Communal spaces have also been enhanced to provide a modern and welcoming environment for residents to socialise.
Residents Mr and Mrs Love, who have been at Park View for more than 20 years, said: “The refurbishment has certainly made a difference and brightened the place up.
“Everything they’ve done has been for the better.
“They asked residents’ opinions, we got samples of carpets to see which we liked best, and it looks very nice.
“The workmen were very caring and there’s been very little disruption during the work.”
Karbon Homes is now setting its sights on another refurbishment project at Athlone Court, in Blyth, ensuring similar improvements for the area’s older residents.
Jon McDonald, head of supported housing at Karbon Homes, added: “The improvements have injected new life into the scheme.
“We hope it will help residents feel proud to call Park View home while ensuring it is aspiring for future customers.
“We worked closely with residents to develop the investment programme, consulting with them to ensure the refurbishment met their wants and needs.”
