Orca cleans up with Millen FM deal

A Durham-based industrial cleaning company has acquired a local facilities management business. 

Orca Cleaning Group, which recently upgraded to a larger facility on Belmont Industrial Estate, purchased Millen Service UK Ltd (trading as Millen FM) for an undisclosed sum. 

The facilities management company, known for services such as retail park litter picking and external cleaning, will continue to operate under its original name.

Bosses say the acquisition will allow Orca to broaden its service offerings, complementing its industrial cleaning portfolio with services such as chewing gum removal, high-level cleaning and more. 

They add that it will create new job opportunities, with potential expansion into energy, electrical, building maintenance and parking services. 

Steven Holmes, chief executive of Orca Cleaning Group, said: “We have historically delivered services for Millen FM and the owner was looking to sell, so it made complete sense for us to make this move and bring the business under the Orca group of companies. 

“This enables us to have more autonomy over the contracts and also offer a really streamlined approach to all of our customers, providing a wider portfolio of services from under one roof.”
