Accountant Coxeys grows with Barnes Cooper deal
A Chartered accountancy firm has expanded with a takeover.
Coxeys has bought Barnes Cooper.
The deal adds 250 clients to Wrexham, Chester and Saltney-based Coxeys’ portfolio.
Under the terms of the agreement, Barnes Cooper’s four-strong team has transferred to Coxeys.
The move marks Coxeys’ third merger in seven years, following deals for Martin Williams and Co and the Chester branch of Hall Livesey Brown.
Founded in 1927 as W. Cross and Co, Coxeys – which changed its name in 1974 when Michael Coxey took over – employs more than 40 people including 12 qualified accountants and works with sole traders to multinational companies.
Anthony Lewis, Coxeys’ managing director, said: “It’s a great opportunity to expand the brand because Barnes Cooper has an excellent client base we’re keen to help grow.
“The clients are the most important element in the business and, because we have a complementary skillset, we will now be able to offer them a broader range of services and the support of a larger team.”
Dave Cooper, co-founder of Barnes Cooper, which operates across Chester, North Wales and Cheshire, added: “My focus has always been my clients, and I want to make sure we link up with a company on the same wavelength and which has the same values, approach and trustworthiness.
“We already have a great rapport with the team at Coxeys, and are looking forward to working together.”
